Sponsorships and community-based activities
Over successive years, the ACT Planning and Land Authority and its predecessors - Planning and Land Management and Department of Environment, Land and Planning - have sponsored awards that encourage high quality design and construction.
Awards sponsored
Most awards sponsored have been individual categories within the Housing Industry Association and Master Builders Association's annual award nights. The individual categories sponsored have included:
- Display Homes Prices to $150,000;
- Medium Density Project of the Year; and
- Quality Urban Design and Sustainability.
The Authority also sponsored the Australian Institute of Landscape Architecture Awards in 2006.
Activities
The Authority and its predecessors have played a strong role in the community, including being involved in:
- providing maps for the Subaru Rally of Canberra;
- Canberra National Multicultural Festival Parade 2000, winner Most Entertaining Entry;
- Canberra Festival 1998, Hats Off to Canberra Festival Parade winner Most Entertaining Entry; and
- Walk to Cure Diabetes, outstanding team fundraising of over $5000 towards diabetes research.
The Authority's social club raises money for various charities and non-profit organisations.
