Temporary work register
Register for temporary employment within the Authority
The temporary work register is used to select staff for work up to a maximum of 12 months or to undertake special projects on a shorter-term basis, either full time or part time. ACT Public Service terms and conditions of employment apply.
Types of temporary work
The Authority often has a need for highly motivated individuals to undertake temporary assignments, which can include:
- employment as Administrative Service Officers;
- work requiring broad generalist experience in policy development and research; and
- more specialised activities, which would suit individuals with skills in areas such as architecture, design, planning, compliance, engineering, building regulation, leasing, surveying and legal administration.
Placement on the register
If you would like to be considered for temporary employment with the Authority, please forward:
- a detailed resume;
- a covering letter that clearly indicates the area(s) in which you may be interested in working; in broad terms the classification or salary range you would expect, taking account of your experience and qualifications; relevant work experience and background; and
- the names and contact details for two referees who will be able to substantiate your claims.
Submitting an application
The preferred method of submission of applications is by email. All documents sent by email must be readable in Microsoft Word format. It is preferred that all parts of your application are appended to the recruitment package
so that your email has only a single attachment. Applicants who do not have email can hand-deliver or post their application to the Dickson Customer Service Centre addressed to the attention of the recruitment officer.
Time on register
Applications will be valid for a period of about six months, or until the register is re-advertised. Please note that we cannot make any guarantee of employment and any offers of employment will only occur as the need arises. Candidates who are listed on the current temporary work register must apply again as they will not be automatically included on a new register.
It would be appreciated if applicants to the temporary employment register could keep us informed if they are no longer available for employment.
Requirements
Applicants must meet the usual prerequisite requirements for engagement as a public service officer, such as meeting Australian citizenship or residency requirements.
