New temporary electrical supply arrangements

Housing construction projects are now subject to changes governing the installation of temporary supply wiring as of 1 January 2009.

Temporary supplies should remain separate from new installation wiring to enable compliance with section 4 of the Electricity Safety Act 1971. This means electricians will no longer be able to connect new houses and units via the temporary supply to the permanent supply before authorised inspection, testing and connection to the electricity network is carried out.

Please note that occupancy of new residences cannot occur until ACTPLA issues a Certificate of Occupancy and Use. For more information visit http://www.actewagl.com.au/publications/#electricity
