ACTMAPi - ACT Government online interactive maps

What is ACTMAPi?

ACTMAPi is the ACT Government’s interactive mapping service. Nine of the most commonly used maps are available by selecting one of the blue coloured tabs above. This new version of ACTMAPi provides you with a convenient and fast way to search planning maps and associated information by block and section number, street address, division (suburb) or district names; or by places of interest. You can create your own electronic maps, save the content and share with others, print hardcopies or export information and run predefined reports at any time.

Further development of ACTMAPi is currently underway to expand the range of data displayed, and to increase the tools and options available to you

Aerial Photography

This map contains aerial photography captured in 2009, 2006 and 2004 (2012 update pending). Users can switch between images at the click of a button to easily see changes over time. Searching can be done using a number of methods to zoom into a selected location or to display information about that location. Such information may be viewed in the map and/or in a list or table format, and may be exported in spreadsheet format.

Users should note that in some areas the aerial photography shows buildings that appear to lean to one side. This is particularly evident when looking at multi-storey buildings.  In the preparation of aerial photography, the supplier corrects the imagery using ground control to make it as accurate as possible. Whilst every effort is made to correct the data, there is always a degree of inaccuracy given that the display is a static single image.

If users have particular concerns regarding block boundaries and structures shown in the aerial photography, they may need to consult a registered surveyor who will be able to confirm whether an encroachment has occurred.

The previous version of ACTMAPi will still be available for a transition period to accommodate for some functionality not yet available in the New version of ACTMAPi.

Functionality still being developed include Block Dimensions and Survey Mark Search. Please note that new search functions do exist in the new version of ACTMAPi.

Once we reach full functionality on the new version of ACTMAPi it is planned to shut down the previous version.

  • 21 May 2012 - Create Report Error

From the ‘I Want to...’ menu is the ‘Create a Report’ function.

A number of users have reported that this is causing an error which prevents the report screen from opening. It appears to only be occurring when Silverlight v5 is installed on the computer. Reports are working correctly if Silverlight v4 is installed.

As a work-around, users can uninstall Microsoft Silverlight v5, and then enter ACTMAPi again following the prompts to install Silverlight. This will install Silverlight v4, and should fix the problem.

We will look at this error, and put in place a permanent solution that enables reports to run correctly with Silverlight v5.

  • 02 Dec 2011 - Save and Open Project Tools

These tools are available from the toolbar above the map (Click the red tool box to expand the toolbar).

The Save Project allows you to save your ACTMAPi session, including the displayed extent, the map layers you have turned on or off, and any mark ups you have done. Please note that when you save a project, it is stored on the ACTMAPi server and is publicly available to all users from the Open Project tool. In a future upgrade to ACTMAPi, it is planned to include an option to either save projects privately or publicly.

If you are concerned about a project you have stored on ACTMAPi and wish to have it removed, please send your request with your project details using the feedback link below.

We also propose to remove any projects that are deemed to be unsuitable, or are older than 6 months. We welcome your feedback regarding this.
