Changes to notification requirements

Changes have been made to the consultation and public notification requirements for some types of development applications in all areas except the City, town centres or industrial zones as defined by Schedule 3 of the Planning and Development Regulations 2008.

The changes apply to:

  • a residential building intended to be higher than three storeys and consisting of more than 50 units
  • a building where the total floor space is intended to be more than 7000m²
  • a building or structure intended to be higher than 25m.

The changes are as follows.

Community consultation

Information regarding the details of any community consultation undertaken prior to a development application being lodged for approval must be provided with all applicable development applications from 1 February 2011.

Applicants who submit development applications using eDevelopment will be prompted to answer additional questions in the eDA wizard.

Applicants who submit development applications via the ACTPLA customer service centre will need to complete and submit the Pre DA Community Consultation Summary form with the development application.

Public notification

From 1 February 2011, the public notification period for applicable development applications will be extended from 15 business days to 20 business days.
