Gas appliances

You should employ a licensed gasfitter whenever you need to have gas appliances installed.

Buying gas appliances

All gas appliances and their components require approval before they can be sold, connected or used.

Installing gas appliances

Immediately after completing appliance work, gasfitters are required to inspect and test the appliance to ensure it operates as per manufacturer’s instructions and specifications. Gasfitters must provide a compliance certificate to the owner on completion of all gasfitting work. They must also provide written notification to the owner or occupier of the premises if they believe an appliance is unsafe.

Owning gas appliances

Owners and users of gas systems must ensure the systems are kept in safe working order and maintained as per manufacturers instructions. Owners and users should comply with any safety related advice provided.

Defective gas appliances

If your gas appliance has been fitted with a defect tag, you should not touch it. It is an offence for any person to remove, alter, damage or deface a defect tag attached to an appliance.
