Planning is continuing for the development of Molonglo and North Weston.
Latest stage of planning
The ACT Planning and Land Authority has submitted a revised draft Variation to the Territory Plan No.281 – Molonglo and North Weston (PDF 2.9MB) along with a consultation report, concept plans for the first two suburbs and a structure plan to the Minister for Planning for his consideration. These are available for viewing on the Current Territory Plan Variations page.
The initial Draft Variation to the Territory No. 281 – Molonglo and North Weston (PDF - 3.6MB) outlined the proposed urban land use policies and the principles and policies to guide future development of Molonglo and North Weston. An associated Preliminary Assessment (PDF - 6MB) discussed the impacts of urban development on the physical, human and natural environments.
A 12-week consultation period on these documents concluded on 26 November 2007. Comments recieved and the Authority's response to issues raised are outlined in the Report on Consultation (PDF 3.5MB) and Key Issues and ACTPLA response (PDF 82KB).
The National Capital Authority concurrently released a related Draft Amendment to the National Capital Plan (No. 63 – Molonglo and North Weston). Visit the National Capital Authority website for more information.
The revised variation differs from the exhibited draft in two broad ways. Firstly, it has been reformatted to be consistent with the new Territory Plan which commenced on 31 March 2008. Secondly, the revised draft variation incorporates changes prompted by submissions and by further investigations undertaken by the Authority since the release of DV281.
