Planning and Development Forum
The role and members of the Planning and Development Forum
The Planning and Development Forum provides strategic comment on planning and development policy to the ACT Government and the ACT Planning and Land Authority.
Role and responsibilities
The Forum has been established to work cooperatively with the Authority and to provide timely and integrated input to a range of planning and development issues, such as Master Plans for town, group and local centres, and community facility needs assessment.
The Forum meets quarterly and is chaired by the Minister for Planning with the Chief Planning Executive deputising when required.
Membership
The membership of the Forum is made of the following:
- the Minister for Planning (Chair);
- three representatives from Industry groups – i.e. the Housing Industry Association, the Property Council of Australia and
- Master Builders Association,
- three representatives from professionals groups – i.e. the Australian Institute of Landscape Architects, the Planning Institute of Australia and the Royal Australians Institute of Architects;
- one representative from the Conservation Council of the South East Region and Canberra;
- one representative from the ACT Council of Social Service; and
- one representative from each of the Community Councils – i.e. Gungahlin, Belconnen, North Canberra, Woden Valley, Weston Creek and Tuggeranong.
